Dawn Ranch is a natural preserve and boutique hotel destination nestled riverside at the edge of Guerneville in Sonoma’s wine-rich Russian River Valley. The cottage-style hotel and event venue offer an authentic, historic, and unique Sonoma wine country escape among 22 acres of ancient giant redwoods, native meadows, and vintage apple trees. The hotel also features unique wellness experiences including a premium spa which offers outdoor baths, massages, and body treatments. Other activities include yoga, meditation, and perfume-making. In this role, your primary focus will be on identifying and bringing in new business, taking clients to contract, and transitioning accounts to our remote and on-site team for execution. This position does not entail group or event servicing but rather emphasizes the identification and procurement of new business opportunities.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: Base Salary of $50,000 - $65,000 generous commission structure. Full earning potential estimated to be up to $120,000 annually. Base salary dependent upon experience, proven track record and strength of network.

Please Note: While the position of Outside Sales Representative with Dawn Ranch entails Monday to Friday commitments in the San Francisco Bay Area, occasional travel to Los Angeles, Sacramento, and neighboring regions may be necessary. It is essential to clarify that this role primarily involves daily activities within the Bay Area and surrounding cities. The extent of travel is contingent upon business opportunities for Dawn Ranch. Candidates should be based in or around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Primary Objective:

  • The Outside Sales Manager position is a field sales position responsible for driving business in a defined, geographic territory through both new business development and existing business growth strategies.
  • Enhance revenue streams from guestroom bookings, meetings, and events while bolstering market dominance over rival hotels in comparison to Dawn Ranch. Target market segments encompass weddings, social gatherings, corporate meetings, and retreats.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess prospects within the sales territory, maintaining a steady pipeline to achieve sales targets.
  • Expedite prospects through the sales cycle by delivering exceptional sales and customer service experiences.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in sales and client databases.
  • Stay abreast of recent market trends and developments through participation in local and industry meetings.
  • Engage in negotiations with prospective and current clients to finalize sales agreements.


Competencies:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under little or no supervision. Must possess proven interpersonal skills including influencing and negotiation skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate solid time management and organizational skills. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and possess a clean DMV license.


Details of the Role:

  • Focus on outside sales to uncover new business opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets through proactive business development.
  • Travel as required to attend and/or represent Dawn Ranch at trade shows, aimed at bolstering sales initiatives, enhancing brand visibility, and fostering business expansion.
  • Identify key decision makers within target companies, schedule in-person presentations, and effectively close new business to further enhance Dawn Ranch's market presence.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of San Francisco, Bay Area and other feeder market trends.
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients and establish new accounts.

Technical Skills:

  • Possess a proficient understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office 365 for effective communication and documentation.
  • Utilize your proficiency in working with third-party platforms such as San Fransisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, Visitcalifornia.com, etc. to enhance Dawn Ranch's online presence and drive leads.
  • Prepare comprehensive sales reports and maintain accurate customer data to drive future sales strategies using the provided sales systems.
  • Knowledge of Event Temple CRM a plus but not required.


Other Essential Duties & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use repetitive hand and body motions such as grasping, writing, typing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Role may require the ability to drive a motor vehicle, stand, walk, sit, talk, talk on a telephone or mobile device, carry a laptop (including while traveling), use a computer for a significant amount of time each day, to hear, and to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs. at a time.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or driving in a vehicle.
  • Must be able to travel.

Required Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:

  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proven track record in outside sales, with a strong emphasis on generating new business.
  • Existing network in the San Francisco Bay Area corporate market is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with adept presentation abilities.
  • Familiarity with the corporate environment and ability to identify key decision-makers.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to navigate and adopt general computer knowledge, with relevant tools and platforms.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • At least 5 years of related experience required.
